The last two days have been truly amazing! Hinds Community College Band hosted our first High School Honor Band event featuring my dear friend and colleague, Robert W. Smith. We had two amazing bands (Gold and Maroon), two band director breakout sessions, and special performances by the Hinds Steel Pan Band and Hinds Wind Ensemble.

I am pretty excited about this opportunity! The grade 3 work I am writing for this project is inspired by North Carolina’s state song, The Old North State. Join the Consortium! HURRAH!

“Chorale Prelude: Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart” is a dramatic and beautiful setting of the well-known hymn Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart. This flexible arrangement allows ensembles to perform the work with as few as thirteen musicians providing accessibility and flexibility for numerous instrumentation needs, while still allowing a full ensemble sound.
*The posted recording is based on the full band scoring but aligns with the suggested preferences for either woodwinds/strings or brass suggested in the score.
